Open-Circuit Fault Diagnosis and Tolerant Control for 2/3-Level DAB Converters

A two-to-three (2/3)-level dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter is a promising dc–dc for medium- and high-voltage applications. That due to its advantages like high power density, galvanic isolation, capability of withstanding higher voltage ratings compared the two-level DAB converters. However, open-circuit fault (OCF) critical 2/3-level converters, resulting in various negative effects, e.g., dc bias, overshoot current, capacitor imbalance. To address these issues, it necessary develop diagnosis fault-tolerant control strategies. This article, thus, proposes method identify faulty switch based on dynamic characteristics when OCF occurs. The midpoint voltages neutral-point-clamped bridge arms are employed as signals, where can be identified accurately mean values duty cycles voltages. Subsequently, scheme complementary-switch-blocking proposed. In this scheme, occurs one switch, gate-driving signal complementary blocked, unbalanced voltages, alleviated significantly. Furthermore, transfer converters enhanced with proposed traditional bypass-arm method. Finally, experimental tests carried out verify theoretical analysis.
